Arlington Heights, IL (March 20, 2020) — The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) has recognized two SGC Horizon brands — Pro Builder and Professional Remodeler  — as finalists in the 2020 Azbee Awards of Excellence. The annual Azbee Awards honor the outstanding editorial and design work by business-to-business, trade, association, and professional publications. This year's contest saw more than 1,000 entries.

Pro Builder earned an Overall Excellence Finalist designation for Magazine of the Year, More Than $3 Million, for its January, February and March 2019 issues, created by Denise Dersin, Rich Binsacca, Larry Nigh, Ingrid Bush, Susan Bady, Mike Beirne and Kate Carsella.

Pro Builder also was named an Overall Excellence Finalist in the category of Cross-Platform Package of the Year, which highlights publications for coverage across print and digital media platforms. Editorial and design team members included Denise Dersin, Rich Binsacca, Larry Nigh, Ingrid Bush, Mike Beirne, Susan Bady, and Kate Carsella.

ASBPE recognized Professional Remodeler staff members Erika Taylor, James F. McClister, Kaitlin Schuler and Robin McCartney as national and regional finalists in the category of Print-Feature Series. The editorial team's winning entry, “The Opioid Epidemic and Remodeling,” is a three-part series investigating why the remodeling industry faces growing opioid addiction among its tradespeople.

“The editors and designers at Pro Builder and Professional Remodeler work tirelessly to uncover and investigate the issues facing the construction industry while providing expertise and strategies to improve their day-to-day work,” said Tony Mancini, Group Director and Principal. “This recognition from ASBPE honors not just their efforts, but the service they're providing to our readers and to their industries as a whole.”

Winners of the ASBPE Awards of Excellence will be named in regional and national award ceremonies later this spring.
