Arlington Heights, IL (April 30, 2014) — Scranton Gillette Communications’ Residential Lighting magazine, in partnership with SGC Horizon sister publication Building Design+Construction, recently launched LED University (www.lededu.com), an online portal offering accredited education opportunities to help lighting, design, housing, remodeling and architectural professionals stay current with the latest in solid-state lighting technologies. LED University is an online campus on the BDC University site, www.BDCuniversity.com.

LED University offers white papers, videos and complimentary webinars that earn AIA CES, IDCEC, NKBA and NARI Learning Units for attendees. The April 24 webinar, LED Lighting 101: ABCs of LED Lighting, featured Joseph A. Rey-Barreau, AIA, an Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Kentucky College of Design, who has led more than 500 continuing education programs on lighting.

The April 24 webinar, available on demand, set SGC/SGC Horizon records for unique registrants (2,500) and unique live viewers (1,485).

“Our goal is to be the preeminent resource for information on LED lighting,” says SGC/SGC Horizon Vice President of Events Harry Urban. “The attendance at our first webinar for LED University demonstrated the thirst for information that exists for this rapidly evolving technology.”
