Arlington Heights, IL (June 25, 2014) — Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a nationally recognized proponent of innovative environmental initiatives, has issued a supportive welcoming letter to attendees, exhibitors and sponsors of the September 29-October 1 BUILDINGChicago/Greening the Heartland Expo & Conference.

The Expo & Conference, returning to the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza, North America’s largest LEED Gold Certified hotel, will feature AIA CES and GBCI accredited education sessions, workshops and keynote addresses. In his welcome letter, Mayor Emanuel notes that the City of Chicago is a leader of innovative environmental initiatives, with sustainability as a key focus. The mayor points to the city’s “Building a New Chicago” initiative as an exemplary example of collaborative action and states “no city in America relies on its infrastructure more than Chicago.”

“Whether it is renewing our parks or repairing our pipes, repaving our roads or rebuilding our rails, retrofitting our buildings or revitalizing our bridges, we must restore Chicago’s core,” the Mayor states in his letter, adding, “I invite you to see the best that Chicago has to offer.”

BUILDINGChicago Expo & Conference is owned by SGC Horizon/Scranton Gillette Communications, publishers of Building Design+Construction. Greening the Heartland is sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council chapters from the 12 Midwest states.
