Arlington Heights, IL (July 17, 2013) — In addition to more than 65 accredited sessions, the September 9-11 BUILDINGChicago/Greening the Heartland Expo and Conference, to be held at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza, presents three distinguished, green building-dedicated keynote speakers.

Kicking off the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greening the Heartland program is Al Skodowski, Jr., Chair of the USGBC’s Board of Directors and Senior Vice President of Sustainability at Transwestern Sustainability Services, a company with more than 65 certifications using LEED EB:O&M, notably the LEED Platinum Chicago Transit Authority headquarters. Skodowski will share the latest developments at the USGBC in his September 9 keynote speech.

On Tuesday, September 10, BUILDINGChicago conference attendees will learn about the “Current Directions, Future Trends in the AEC Industry” from keynote speaker Robert Ivy, FAIA, CEO of the American Institute of Architects, and 2009 G.D. Crain Award winner for editorial excellence. Ivy served as Vice President/ Editorial Director of McGraw-Hill Construction and Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Record.

Jerry Yudelson, PE, delivers the keynote speech, “What Do They Know That We Don’t? Lessons From Beyond the U.S.,” on September 11. One of the first group of LEED professionals to be named a LEED Fellow, and the author of 13 books on green building, Yudelson has keynoted nearly 100 green building conferences in 14 countries. His keynote speech is based on his latest book, The World’s Greenest Buildings: Promise vs. Performance in Sustainable Design.
