Arlington Heights, IL (July 3, 2014) — Laura Van Zeyl, publisher and editorial director of Scranton Gillette Communications’ Residential Lighting and Home Fashion Forecast publications, was named by Today’s Chicago Woman magazine as one of its 100 Women of Inspiration, an annual list that honors local women with notable accomplishments in their professional and/or personal lives.

Van Zeyl was recognized for her achievements as the director of both content and sales for SGC Design Group’s lighting and home furnishings/design publications, websites, events and digital communications. Today’s Chicago Woman found her to be inspiring for her participation on the board of The H Foundation, a cancer charity that has raised more than $5 million for the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.

Followers of Van Zeyl on Facebook and Twitter are familiar with her social media promotion of the annual Goombay Bash, which raises funds on behalf of the Lurie Cancer Center research. The event will be held July 12, at Navy Pier in Chicago.

“I am floored to be in the company of the amazing women on the list of 100 Women of Inspiration this year,” says Van Zeyl. “I’m particularly thrilled to be recognized for my work on the Board for The H Foundation and its Goombay Bash.”

Van Zeyl joins a prestigious group in this year’s Top 100 women, which includes such notables as Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle; Anne Burke, Supreme Court Justice, First Judicial District, State of Illinois; Susan Nussbaum, playwright, author and disability rights activist; Jeanne Gang, founder/principal of Studio Gang Architects; Jackie Lomax, founder/executive director of Girls 4 Science; and Philanthropist Ann Lurie, president/treasurer of Ann & Robert H.
